about

The fifth proper album by The Curiously Strong Peppermints sees a bit of a musical shift in the group -- or recording project, depending on how you look at it. Starcrusher, The Silver Manifold is a more experimental, improvisational and hypnotic album, heavily influenced by Krautrock legends Can.

A concept album about the COVID-19 pandemic, the basic rhythm tracks were recorded solely by lead-Peppermint Jesse Miller during the Minneapolis quarantine in April and May 2020. Additional overdubs were recorded that summer by the other band members while being socially distant -- by tracking in Jesse's patio of his home studio!

The end result is the most immediate Curiously Strong Peppermints album, a musical journey of the madness of the coronavirus, the breakdown of our society and how humans are dealing with the fear, isolation, desolation and division. Although thick with lyrical metaphor, Starcrusher, The Silver Manifold covers what every human being is experiencing right now.

The Curiously Strong Peppermints Minneapolis

The Curiously Strong Peppermints are an unexplained purple cumulonimbus cloud formation hovering above Western Abu Dhabi that has been emitting unusual sonic frequencies since 2004. If you stare at it long enough you can see a Jesse, a Ben, a Sean, and sometimes a David and Jeannette. Four pieces fell to earth, available here. ... more
